Wonderful wonderful Guy: About 1 years ago in Hawaii I came across a Manta and dove off the boat alone and started swimming with it. I only had a snorkel but when I'd dive, it would dive. I'd glide next to it with my fingertips almost touching the Manta's wingtips but it never let me touch it. I didn't try to hard. For about 45 minutes we did out watery ballet. Then it swam away. As I swam back to the boat a friend on board said, "here he comes. He's following you." I looked behind me and there it was, as if to say, "noooo. Don't leave. I still want to play." I just saw Queen of the Manta's and want to hop a plane to swim with them, so many. The most I've swum with is about 10.

I fear the Chinese coming to Africa: for the mantas, elephants. cheetahs, all animals. A tragedy looms, and what is so frightening is how fast they are "invading." They seem to have no use for animals except to eat them. God help our fragile planet.

I agree with Robert. These Rays are Cownose Rays, otherwise known as Golden Rays. There's a chain email going around with this picture and more of the the same migration.

Photographer team Yogi and Stella Freund just captured these amazing images of manta rays in Raja Ampat, Papua, during their 18-month photo expedition across the Coral Triangle. Very much worth checking out!
